Description:
Morning: Golden Beach Exploration
- Departure: After breakfast, depart from your resort at 8:30 AM.
- Sabaki River Bridge: A short drive from Malindi takes you to the bridge over the Sabaki River, the lower stretch of the Galana River from Tsavo East, as it nears its end in the Indian Ocean.
- Golden Beach: Travel along roads lined with palm trees and sand dunes, some of which are covered with coconut shells to keep vehicles from getting stuck. The beach is named for its unique bronze-gold sand, rich in pyrite. At low tide, the sun creates a shimmering golden patina on the sand. Enjoy sunbathing, swimming in the ocean, and strolling along the shore, where you might find gold flakes in the sand.
Midday: Sudi Island Adventure
- Journey to Sudi Island: Continue your journey, passing through Kenya’s largest salt pans, where flamingos can often be spotted.
- Sudi Island: Take a short boat ride to reach the pristine Sudi Island. This small, uninhabited island offers a secluded tropical paradise experience with its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.
- Lunch: Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch on the island, featuring local specialties such as grilled fish, coconut rice, fresh tropical fruits, and refreshing beverages. (Drinks are available at an additional cost.)
- Island Activities: After lunch, spend time exploring the island, snorkeling in the coral reefs surrounding the island (equipment provided), or simply relaxing on the beach.
Afternoon: Marafa Canyon (Cucina del Diavolo)
- Marafa Canyon: Depart for Marafa Canyon, also known as the “Devil’s Kitchen.” Upon arrival, meet a local guide who will share the fascinating history of the canyon and lead you through its gorges, where the colors of the rock change throughout the day based on the sun’s angle.
- Sunset: Witness the stunning African sunset, where the canyon’s colors become even more vibrant, creating a breathtaking view.
Return: After sunset, return to your resort, arriving around 7:30 PM.
